noisy transmission
the trans in my 1990 lesabre makes a horrible chattering noise between 1000 and 1500 rpm. After reading some posts, i found it to be the drive chain in the trans that connects the torque converter to the gearset. I originally posted this in the lesabre forum, but no one replied so i am trying it here. How hard do you think it would be to replace this chain? The transmission is a th440 t4. Also, where would i find this part? Autozone, napa and murray's don't carry it. Would i have to get a junk yard one or dealer? thanks!!!!

Re: noisy transmission
This is not an easy project.
Try a specialty transmission parts place. Ask a transmission shop where they get their parts from. It requires transmission removal and partial disassembly. You must remove an access cover and the valve body on the side of the unit. There are many small parts to remove and reinstall, and if you do not get it right, you won't know until you put the transmission back in. (and then remove it again to fix it). |

I wouldn't try this unless you have some help and some VERY good Instructions.
