what engine will fit

what engine will fit in my 89 civic hatch DX i knwo ill have to convert to multi port planned on doing that anyway but i just need to know which will fit. basicaly what im looking for is what year of car to pull engine from liek 88-00 or sumpin like that

I dont know if the D17 would fit. Thats a weird one... why would you want to use that in a your 89? You would have to screw around with OBD conversions and shit just to get an engine with very limited aftermarket parts. D16a6 would be the easiest, next would be d16z6 or d15b7.

the d17 is in all the 7th gen civic models.i think thats the sohc vtec one tho.not to sure.

d17 would be a very hard swap I imagine, since I believe it spins the other way....and the tranny is on the other side (I think so).....

nope.your thinking bout those k series engines.they sit the same as the other d's engines.i bet it would be hard.your better of with the y8.

your right, I was thinking K series, makes me wonder, do the new D17s bolt up to d series trannys?? and do the mounts line up like all other D series??
