my s15.. cartoon

well originally i started off drawing a 350z which wasnt a cartoon and ... i got a bit bored and so i changed it to an s15... i did it during a double period in class and i spent about 45 minutes on it. any advice would be great. and bonzelite i realised the elipses are still crap =( lol.



iv been reading too much SPEED magazine they had a quite a few articles on s15...dunno if u get that in america. but imho its the best car mag around, full of spread info (and less about australian v8s) and not that many ads and only 7.95 aus...

um.... i dunt think so.. i hav no fotoshoping skills and my shading and colouring skills is unbelievably crap.... if u want ill clean it up (fix up those darn wheels), do an ink version and post it so u can colour it =D lol...

Yeah, If you can't draw elipses cartoons are cool because you can draw whatever shaped wheels you want! I say rub 'em out and try some wierd looking ones.

wheels i drew aren't the best not even good but it will give u an idea of how to make it luk cartoon! cheers hope to s progress soon!!!

aequrico, ok let us focus on the body for now: we can allow for a lapse in elipse skill temporarily. let us take this one bite at a time to eat the whole elephant at a later date.

in my opinion, first draw cars the "correct" way. you are already nearly doing that. i know a kartoon is a great way to escape real responsibility at the beginning. you can fudge things up and it is just a kartoon, so it is ok.

but it is not ok with me. you cannot escape nor pretend to draw a kartoon. you must draw the real car first. do not try to get out of this. i want to see you draw an S15, or pick another one, ONLY the body. forget the damn wheels. we need to get you up and running with form. the wheels are another entire career.

buy a pre-made die-cast model. or get a build-up kit. go out soon and have fun. make this fun. this should not be torture eventhough it will be. get a model and give me a shout. we will go from there. you MUST OBSERVE 3-D reality at this point and a lot of it. i am not blowing smoke up your a$$. you must do this or you will not go very far.

you must take a hard look at the cold light of reality. take the actual car in your hands and see how it changes shape and form from different points of view. play god here. remember, you are the commander. not the car. you are the one. you are the judge, jury and trial. this is your day. you can draw. and you can get better, and you will get better. believe me. you are already ahead of the game.

don't get me wrong, man. you draw well. you're not sh!thouse. i am highly supportive of your work. i would not come down on you if i thought you were crap. you're on the right track totally.
