Re: can anyone help me!!!!!!!!!!!
Why would you do that? Its gonna be a huge pain in the ass getting the motor to fit, then you're going to have to swap in a chevy trans as well because no ford will bolt up to it... Why not just throw a 351w in there which will bolt right up to the existing motor mounts(as long as a 302 was in there before, if not there are conversion kits) and to the existing transmissions.. you'll make just as much power with either motor. The 351w has a .5" higher deck height, you could stroke it out way more than a 350.

putting a chevy motor in a ford is like asking your best friend to suck your dick. makes no sense. just put in a windsor, as it requires few if any modifications to the chassis, no trans mods, and even no wiring mods if it was a 302. trust us on this one. nobody will respect you if you put an SBC in a stang.

EXACTLY!Please tell me you're kidding. Dude, seriously, if you want more cubic inches, go with a stroker or a 351, it's going to be a lot easier. There are tons of stroker kits for small block fords, and if you want to go with the 351, you can stroke that and get even more power, 393, 408 CID. There are even 427 cubic inch stroker kits for the 351W. That should be enough power. Why would you bother putting a Chevy engine? Not saying the chevy engine sucks, but it's going to be a royal pain in the ass. Out of curiosity, why do you want to put a small block chevy in a mustang? |

Re: can anyone help me!!!!!!!!!!!
hey man do what you want, ive seen it done b4, not something i would do, but whatever floats your boat, i would get rid of the ford harness and go with a msd, alot easier, and are you going stick or auto? and have you come up with the mounts yet because your probably gonna have to fabricate them

Re: can anyone help me!!!!!!!!!!!
Go look at any '32 ford hotrod... they all have some breed of bowtie in them. I recently went to a car show, looked under the hood of every 30's ford rod they had there, every one(around 30 of em) had a chevy motor except one. The one I found wasnt even in the show, it half-restored condition, sittin in the parking lot. That was the only one I took a picture of. Whats the point of a ford hotrod if its got a chevy in it? Makes me REALLY want to buy a '57 chevy and stuff the biggest badest ford motor it in, and when some chevy guy asks me why the hell I would do that, I'd tell them to go fuck themselves. I think it would be quite satisfying.

The reason you see all the 32 Ford hotrods or something similiar with Chevy motors in them is cause #1 99% of them are new Steel body or Fiberglass body cars. So at that point you are basically building a car from scratch so what motor/tranny you use doesn't matter much. Also see what building the correct Ford Flathead V8 cost LoL. Anyway it has nothing to do with Chevy or Ford or which is better. It has to do which is cheaper and building a Carbed Chevy motor always has been and always will be cheaper to build than a Ford. But since the 5.0 EFI Ford guys can claim the same for fuel injected cars.
I help put a 429/C6 combo in a 67 Camaro RS/SS for a friend and we brought to Super Chevy show to be assholes! LoL

Re: can anyone help me!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought about the whole 'cheaper' arguement before for about 4 seconds before deciding its not true. They spend tens of thousands of dollars to build these cars looks wise, then decide to go cheap on the motor? Obviously these aren't concourse restorations since they're hot rodded and modified(so original motor doesnt matter), but putting a chevy in a ford or a ford in a chevy sorta leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Its insulting to Ford guys, at least it is to me. Its like they're saying.. "ya know, it would have been easier and more logical to put a Ford motor in my Ford car.. but fords blow man. Plus chevy aftermarket has more chrome accessories, always need more of those.." I mean, I don't mind if a third, maybe even a half, had chevy motors, it really wouldn't bug me. But after lookin under every single Ford hotrod's hood at that show and seeing a chevy in EVERY one, then as I leave the show I see the worst lookin one of them all, and it has a ford. If it wasn't for that car, I would never look at a '32 ford again. It'd make me spontaneously gag.

The cheaper argument does still apply even for those guys. I mean most of them still have serious money into the motor but it's like I could spend $10,000 on a mean carbed Chevy motor or I could spend $15,000 on a mean carbed Ford motor.
I know what your saying and it does piss me off to see a nice 32 Ford with a Chevy motor. But I have noticed a swing in the last years where I see more and more with Ford V8's in them.
