best transmission ratios?

What are the best tranny gears for racing assuming 410 rear gears and a motor putting out 400hp. I am thinking tranny #2 because of the closer ratios and the 410's should make up for the loss on the low end. Tranny #1 seems to have a huge gap between 1st and 2nd. Is this line of thinking correct?

Tranny #1 TKO500 (3.27 1.97 1.34 1.00 0.68)
OR
Tranny #2 TKO600 (2.87 1.89 1.28 1.00 0.64)

The TKO500 gear ratios are better suited to a 400 HP car, especially if you're on slicks. How tall of a tire are you going to be running.

I haven't had the gears put in yet and I decided to back off to 373. Max RPM will be at 6000 and I am running stock 16'' rims with gforce TA's. I will be putting on a Procharger 10 PSI as well. Yes traction is an issue that will be dealt with later.
