Rover from Down Under.

This is an interesting car from the eighties. During Austin-Rovers tie up with Honda in the eighties and nineties they produced some good cars and heres an interesting one. This is the Australian spec Rover 416i which was essentially a rebadged Honda Integra Hatchback, launched in 1987 it sold in very limited numbers. It is very interesting to look at with the wedged shape of the Honda design at odds with the traditional Rover badge. Performance variant of this was released with the Vitesse name tag.

Rover badge on that wedge shaped nose.

Rover 416i looks just like a Honda Integra from a distance.

Rover badge very visable.

Re: Rover from Down Under.

Thats mad, if I posted that on one of the UK MG/Rover forums, they would tell me someone had just stuck Rover badges on it

Smile

This car does seriously exist. Go to www.Austin-Rover.co.uk and then go to Around The World then Australia and you'll find a official brochure from 1987.

Re: Rover from Down Under.

Oh I didn't doubt it, I may just post it on the uk site to see how many people DO tell me it's a rebadged Honda and then post that link to prove it.
