Re: How to make Angel Eyes

I searched AF and couldn't find any info on Angel Eyes. I just thought someone might be curious as to how to make them (like me) and that someone might find this info useful. I'm just trying to be helpful. I didn't realize that wanting to know more about cars and how to build and modify them was frowned upon on this website. Sorry, I thought this was the Automotive Forums, you know, where people go to ask questions and seek answers.

somebody posted a sarcastic remark, but it looks like it has been removed since then.

back on topic, that is so cool looking i wanna make some, not necasarily for my car but maybe for other applications, I mean you don't have to bend the rods into circles, you could make up a jig and bend it to any shape you wanted , great link.

Re: How to make Angel Eyes

It's been posted before a few times but I really don't see how you could do something like that on a 92+ Civic headlight and it look good..

Re: How to make Angel Eyes

seriously, for it to look good i would believe the headlights should be smaller and projector like. but with the 6th gen, the headlights are fricken huge so it would be like giant monster eyes!!

yeah I didn't mean it looked cool as a headlight, but I just thought in general it was kinda cool looking before he showed them on the car.

I'm thinking I may attempt something for my den with the pool table in it,I already have a bar motif going in there, maybe I could make like a light up bacardi bat or something haha, that would look kinda cool. I wonder how sharp of angles you could bend that stuff before it starts cracking.

Re: How to make Angel Eyes

For a long stran you'd need something bigger than a tiny LED also

Re: How to make Angel Eyes

ricochet, i guess you could neon =) or you could just go as far as you could with one strip then do another, i wonder how far a person could go with one led, because i think he went 12 inches or so with one led ,so maybe a max would be two feet right? hmm what could we do those "angel eyes" besides head light and tail light mods, engine accent? subwoofer accent... so many possibilities

Re: How to make Angel Eyes

Yeah it would be a poor man's neon. Check out this little idea with crappy graphics.

Glue gun stick: ---
LED: *

------**------**------**------

You could keep adding LED's into the line and form it into a ring around a sub or something like you said, I guess that would be pretty unique.

Re: How to make Angel Eyes

Yes, somebody replied to the original post with a smart @$$ remark, then deleted it after my second post. Sorry if this is a re-post, but I thought it was interesting and thought others might find this technique useful. I'm sure that creative people will find several uses for this info such as building custom tail lights, gauge housings, trim rings, etc. I've used acrylic rods and sheets in some of my projects and it's pretty easy to work with. I built a modern looking chandelier for a restaurant out of sheets and square rods of acrylic using a similar method. The acrylic I used was too big to fit in an oven, so I used a propane torch to heat and bend it.
