For under $500, nitrous oxide (no.. it's not called naaws). You can get a kit for around $500.. Or you could probably find a used kit for even less than that. If you don't want to do with nitrous, then intake and exhaust are probably what youre gonna want to go for.

Do NOT go NOX.... find another way to beat up your new engine.....

Buy some cams, CAI, Manifold, ULFW or something that doesn't cost anything to use and that doesn't spoil your engine.

Nitrous, used in moderate amounts, will not greatly increase wear on your engine. The reasont Nitrous has got such bad reviews is because people abuse it.. Not using WOT (Wide open throttle) switch.. Squeezing between shifts hitting rev limiter, and using it all the time for long periods of time. I know a guy who has been running a 60 shot of N.O.S (Yea, the kit made by Holley) on his civic Ex for almost 2 years now and his car is running like a 2 year old car should be.. Just fine. So don't rule out nitrous.. It IS the best hp per dollar mod you can possiby do, and its not always on like a turbo or SC.

Thumbs down

R.I.P and toast to that engine. You will get a home made sr20de one time rod launcher. Not a pretty sight, don't risk it.

Install a used header. Get a good tune-up (do it yourself - make sure everything is in proper shape). Get some dyno time.

I've watched Mike Kojima get up to 7 hp out of a NA car just playing with the timing on the dyno.
