Forcing air compressor to engage (low-pressure switch override)

Hey guys, quick question about my 98 Blazer - I'm trying to recharge my A/C right now, and I'm looking for the way to force the compressor to engage (will not turn on when A/C is run, assuming it's due to low pressure.) Where is the switch and what do I need to do to force it to kick on? Also, while i'm asking Q's, am I correct in planning to use a can of R-134a oil charge first? Thanks in advance

Re: Forcing air compressor to engage (low-pressure switch override)

You can jumper the low pressure switch connector to force the compressor to run. (the switch is located on the accumulator)
A small oil charge wont hurt.
If you have done a repair involving opening the system, you will need to evacuate the system before the recharge for proper operation.
