Race Card #40-The Quiet Man.
Although he wasn't as big as John Wayne, the inner strenght that the title of one of the Duke's movies seems to convey fits Alan to a T. I only met him once but the unmistakable effect of his brain working overtime behind behind his quiet unassuning demeanor was like standing in front of a door to a hydro-electric plant and feeling the energy on the other side. When we lost him I gave this model to the daughter of a friend who had dated him so as not to have to hear,"Boy, I bet that's worth a lotta money", over and over from the "speculators".
PS Check the "catchup" post below for some of the older cards. [L=The "Underbird"]http://img23.photobucket.com/albums/v69/mitchum/KKK40FORD92_7.jpg[/L] |

Kulwicki is one of us Yankees' greatest stock car heroes. In some ways, it's haunting that he won his championship fighting down to the last race with Davey Allison. Davey was just as much an example of Southerner pride as Kulwicki was a Northern boy.
And god do we miss them both.
