DPFI/MPFI and TRANNIE?
hello everyone.
on a 89 civic lx = 1.5 d15b2 setup, has anyone coverted from auto to manual trannie and kept the auto ecu? what effects can you encounter on the car with that setup? on a DPFI to MPFI swap I know i have to go SI on the ecu, distrib and intake (based on what i found while researching this project); I heard/read a rumor that any 88 - 2000 d series intake manifold will fit any of those heads. is that ture? for instance = d15b2 head/ z6 intake manifold, or b2 head and a y8 intake manifold? Same for the distributor....? ECU's, can i use any other ecu other than the PM6? how about JDM spec parts, would there be better performance with using JDM spec intake manifold over a USDM? or a head swap, would there be a difference with a b2 block/d16a6 everything else in comparison to a b2 with a dpfi to mpfi swap? or do you all think it would equal out (or close to each other= 90hp / 105?) on hp/torque? thankx for the help. |

ok, well first off, any d-seiries part is interchangable with and d-series engine, with the ecu and distributor i believe you have to use the one that are obdo(unless you change to obd1) not positive about that though. Also i am prety sure you are goin to have to get a ecu for a manual tranny if you switch

Re: DPFI/MPFI and TRANNIE?
You can keep the auto ecu on most cars, but you will have really low rev limiter, and the ecu is not meant for a manual but it will work if you dont mind sacrificing a lot of power. Just buy a pm6 ecu, there only like 20-30 bucks.
For the dpfi to mpfi, yes the IM will bolt up, but its best to stay with same injectors and IM.(same gen.) And the distributors dont all bolt up the same. Sometimes you have to ghetto rig the mounts. ECU'S copied directly from hondata.com D15B 92-93 US P74,P75,P06,PR4,P28,P30,P72,P61 2,3 D15B 96 US P74,P75,P06,PR4,P28,P30,P72,P61 2,3,6,7 D15B 92-95 JDM P72,P30,P28,P61,P08J,P30J,P72J 2,3 Almost all jdm parts came in d-series, the only ones that you could use are like d15b parts and sohc zc engine parts. These really arent worth the money for little if any performance gain.. |

About the JDM parts... I know for a fact that the dohc zc intake manifold (d-series) does not bolt onto the usdm heads. I dont know for sure about the sohc zc intake manifold but i believe that one does bolt on. Still though theres nothing much thats better about the sohc zc manifold rather than the a6's manifold.

Re: DPFI/MPFI and TRANNIE?
There is always a 6th gen (96-00) EX d series one. Which is refered to as the Type-R of d-series intake manifold...

Re: DPFI/MPFI and TRANNIE?
The so called type R one is a d16y8. Most d-series stuff is interchangable, except for stuff from ZC,and d16a1, and the other DOHC D-series

Re: DPFI/MPFI and TRANNIE?
Yes correct and all sohc zc parts are intechagable too.Only engines that arent intechangable in the d series are: DOHC: zc, d16a1, (d16a3, d16a2)?

Re: DPFI/MPFI and TRANNIE?
hey again, thanx for the info that you all are suppling, on the intake this guy on ebay stated =
"THIS IS A D16A1 DOHC ZC INTAKE, TB, INJECTORS,AND SENSORS. I DID A SANDBLAST TO IT AND IT IS READY TO GO. BESIDES THE FUEL RAIL, FROM WHAT I HAVE DONE RESEARCH ON, ON THE NET YOU CAN BOLT THIS UP TO A SOHC D16 AND IT IS LIKE BUYING AN AFTERMARKET INTAKE, MORE FLOW MORE HORSE POWER. BIGGER INJECTORES AND TB ETC......... I AM ONLY PARTING OUT THE ENGINE BECAUSE I AM GETTING MARRIED. THIS IS WELLLLLLLLLL WORTH THE TIME. THIS IS AN AS IS AUCTION, ANY QUESTIONS I CAN ANSWER BUY E-MAIL. THANKS AND HAPPY BIDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ! " now to clearify this mess. the DOHC intake mannies are not able to bolt onto the SOHC D series, correct? Travagliante did give me a confirm, but i've also seen those pages on the net that states you can use that DOHC intake on the SOHC. I know mistakes can happen.... once more, can this intake fit on a SOHC (even though I already got an answer, can i get a couple moire)? |
