Question intermittent, rough, choppy, acceleration while shifting

Here goes.

THE CAR -- 2001 Hyundai Accent GSI

ISSUE
Recently my car seems to sputter while upshifting. Not really sputter, but acceleration gets weak at times. When this happens my check engine light starts to flash and after doing this a couple of times in a day the check engine light stays solid till the error clears.

I put in new sparkplugs and the problem vanished for a couple of days. During these happy days I thought I have solved the issue. The check engine light disappeared entirely and my car ran like a charm. And suddenly the car started to get its symptoms back.

Now I am unsure what is wrong with the car.
I can still drive it safely but every now and then I get a weak acceleration and the light flashes for a bit and stays on.

I have some ideas.
1. fuel filter -- need new one maybe
2. air filter looks good
3. computer tune up (recommended by neighbour)
4. buy a new car (not gonna happen because I am not working right now lol)

Any ideas??

sounds like an engine misfire under load . Did yu inspect the spark plug wires when you changed the plugs .

Andrew,

I looked over the plug wires briefly. Is there something I should be looking for. The wires are the originals. Also, there is an arrow on each wire end. Does this arrow need to be lined up with something?

Thanks for the advice.

Thumbs up

All Systems ---- GO!!

My vehicle is fully functional. There was indeed a small hole in my plug wires. The current was taking the path of least resistance and two of my plugs were shot. I replaced the two plugs and bought brand new spark plug wires and my car runs like it's new.

Thanks for any advice that I received.

signed,

on the road again (smoothly)
