I have a 1993 Park ave. and the security system wont let me to start it. It will crank, but not fire for more than a second or two. Nothing electrical will work eather Except the Security system keeps buzzing. The horns have been disconnected. The security lights always came on when I oppened the door but now it is buzzing and will not let me start it ... This is the second time it has done this. the Firts time after I towed it home and let it sit for an hour it started perfectly. I was hopeing it would reste again, but it has sat overnight. and still the alarm goes off as soon as you open the door. I tryed disconecting the bat. and reconnecting. I sat in the car for 20 minutes so the alarm would reset while I was in it. but no luck. I was hopeing to disconnect the alarm any help would be greatly appreciated. I cant afford another tow let alone a trip to the dealership.

I got this information from my 1995 shop manual. It should be similar to your car.
The PASS -key module controls the output to the starter enable circuit and the fuel enable circuit. If the module does not send the proper signal to the PCM , the PCM does not allow fuel to be provided to the engine. If the wrong key resistance is sensed the module will not enable the starter circuit. The security light on the dash will tell you where the malfunction is. If the light flashes or stays on all the time, the most likely problem is broken wires at the ignition lock. But this will prevent the car from cranking too. If you have two keys, did you try the other key? Is there fuel pressure at the engine? You say the alarm is going off too. The alarm system does not affect engine starting. Sounds like you have 2 problems. To get the car started you have to check the PASS-key system. |

Re: 93 Park Ave security system, "wont start!!!"
Yes, they run just fine with the alarm blaring! I reached inside my open window to unlock once, and didn't have my door key with me. I think the remote wouldn't reset it. Sat there in the parking lot waiting for my wife to bring me the key, with the A/C on....and the alarm cycling. Also, the passkey resistance may have changed (unlikely), so take your VIN and registration to the dealer and get a new one, which should fix one problem(sounds like there's another).
