problem with UICP and 1gbov
Okay so i just installed the dejontool UIPC and the 1g BOV....i had a problem...the service engine light went on so i decided to unplug the battery to reset it maybe....the light went off and then i noticed that the RPMS were a little weird....at idle they used to be at 1,000 RPM (before i installed everything)... now they are at 500 RPM....my question is: Is that normal? has anyone had this problem? what are your rpms during idle?

Re: problem with UICP and 1gbov
Was your idle fine after you installed it, but before you reset it?
500 is a little low.. but my guess is that since you just reset it.. it might take a while for the ecu to smooth the idle out. Happens to me when i reset my ecu.

Re: problem with UICP and 1gbov
It could take a while for it to smooth out. When I reset mine the idle is high.. and when I am slowing down the rpms stick at like 1700 and then when i come to a complete stop it will go back down to the normal idle.

Re: problem with UICP and 1gbov
look closely at the idle , you are probably at about 700 or so rpm, which is about normal. the reading lines are bunched up tighter that the rest of the gauge below 1000 rpm. [which i woul dthink of as a high RPM]

Re: problem with UICP and 1gbov
If you have your AC on your idle will be lower. Something to just check on to make sure you're not getting a weird reading.

Re: problem with UICP and 1gbov
The 1g BOV isnt vented is it? Have to ask...
![]() Make sure the MAS is plugged back in. People often forget that, and it will give you a CEL. Cant think of anything else you might have had o mess with for a UICP job that would give a CEL.

Re: problem with UICP and 1gbov
if the MAS isnt plugged in, the car wont run it will start then kill. Give the ECU a day or 2 and it should be fine. mine did something similair after i reset my ECU when i installed a UICP and a 1g BOV.

Re: problem with UICP and 1gbov
when i forgot to plug my MAS in, it ran incredibly SLOW.
someone else before had this sort of idle rpm problem too, i think in that case it was one of the screws on the throttlebody was too lose/tight. might wanna check that out too.

Re: problem with UICP and 1gbov
i was going to mention the MAS, but thought better of it for the sake of MHS... lol
and my RPM increases when i turn on my AC, idle is like at 900 or so |

Re: problem with UICP and 1gbov
The car will run with the MAS unplugged. I got a few miles from home more than once before the CEL reminded me to plug it in. Ran a little rough, but then again, my car always runs rough.

Re: problem with UICP and 1gbov
thanks guys! but still the rpms are the same....when i start it up after a few hours of driving like 8-12 hours....the rpms are like at 1,000 or 900...but once i start driving it, the rpms go down to 500 when i come to a stop and idle i.e. at a stop light... For sure i checked the MAS and it is connected. I did however tighten the stock tube that connects to the elbow adn throttle body pretty good. I also had to push the stock tube up a little on the elbow to fit the ucip in my engine bay....could that be a reason? Do you think perhaps i fucked up a few wires that connected to the MAS....it all looks fine to me. So i have no clue.

Re: problem with UICP and 1gbov
also, by disconnecting the battery, does it also reset the ECU or do i have to manually do that from the ECU? ...because you know for the stock stereo, if you disconnect the battery, it asks you for a code....well mine didnt do that and i was pretty suprised.

Re: problem with UICP and 1gbov
You probally did not disconnect it long enough. Mine asks for it when it has been out a while otherwise sometimes it won't ask if it has been out for a hour or so.
