Re: New Trim Pics in Gallery.

thats pretty sweet dude..i was thinking of doing something similar to that with my interior but i think the only color that would look remotly decent in my car would be silver...im not sure if i want all that silver and from past experience it seems to chip easy. My car is sort of a maroon color. (not sure on the actual name)

Re: New Trim Pics in Gallery.

If you use a vinyl dye that contains acetone and naptha it should bond and not chip or crack even without sanding.

Re: New Trim Pics in Gallery.

you can use regular spray paint but when i helped my friend paint the plastic interior of his cavalier we used a GM brand..i dont think it makes much difference just as long as your not using a cheap generic brand....we also spent hours sanding the pieces before we painted them but markgase2000 says that theres either a paint or coating out there that you dont need to do any sanding to use...if thats true i will be extremely happy and yet furious at the same time

Re: New Trim Pics in Gallery.

ohh yeah...i guess he was talking about using dye..i got confused. I dont know if he was talking about the plastic cuz i looked at his pics and it was the plastic parts of his dash that were colored but thats where im confused about dying cuz i cant imagine being able to dye plastic parts...even a dark fabric part would be hard to do cuz my seats and carpet are dark gray.

lets ask him....eh hem...HEY MARK, WHATCHU TALKIN BOUT MAN?!?!

Re: New Trim Pics in Gallery.

I put the vent in the off position and pulled straight out. The vent itself is like 3 or 4 pieces after you pulled it out. The dye bomb i use DOES bond without sanding using acetone and naptha to allow the dye to bleed into the vinyl.

Re: New Trim Pics in Gallery.

You might not like this, but i dont like your car. You have tomany colors going together, the black, with the read, with the green is a no no. I would do your rear drum black, paint the spoiler to match and the gas cap. and you could probably get away with the painted caliper. The interior is so so, but the blue/green with red isnt going to cut it, you should rethink your color sheme and then paint the whole interior instead of random spots.

Dont take this as an attack on your car or hard work, but as a point of view that might add you.

Re: New Trim Pics in Gallery.

vht is a awesome product , however it suggests you use 400 grit sandpaper on hard vinyl , the SEM product I get from Ducan is more potent than vht. I am using a vht product for my seats along with the Sem , Sem didnt have a light enough blue that actually looks blue when sprayed on fibers. I buy Sem from a franchise company , they only sell to dealerships and body shops cus of the naptha and acetone content. This stuff is brutal , the fumes will quickly fill a house from just a few sprays so use outdoors also makes your lungs bleed after short exposure.

Re: New Trim Pics in Gallery.

so, when you say vinyl, youre talking about the vents and stuff too? i guess thats considered hard vinyl? im not good at matching colors but i think the way your colors stand out and appear flawless looks good. id love to get some of that done on my car.
