i hjust had the craziest idea ! my brother has an 86 civic 1.5s and my friend has an 85 dual carb prelude. i want 2 do an engine swap and make this civic a half decent sleeper i'll jus take of the 1.5s badges and replace them with type r. then to get rid of sum dead wight i'll probbly juz ditch the rear seat. is there any resason i shouldnt do this swap or any difficulties?

Re: dual carb 87 civic

the engine will not mount into it, besides it's only got 100 hp, the real sleeper is with the dohc integra motor (look at my sig line)

Re: dual carb 87 civic

well you could convert to FI which is a lot of work but worth it. another way that would be slightly less work and a lot more money is to go with Weber DCOE 40 sidedraft carbs. the hard part about that would be getting a manifold to mount them

Re: dual carb 87 civic

Try and track down an Aussie/JDM D15B twin carb from a 4th gen. Rated at 100ps, they are a top motor and respond well to mods.

if you want a 'sleeper' then the last thing you'd want to do is slap on the 'Type R' badges. if anything you'd be replacing the current badges with 'HF' badges.

the whole idea with a sleeper is that it's faster than advertised - not the other way around.

good luck with the mods.

Re: dual carb 87 civic

i don't think so, with the newer hondas (83/84 and newer that is) there isn't much that can be interchanged between models except of the civic/integra stuff
