No power to truck at all!!! Please help
My pickup decided not to start last week, it started to turn over and then the starter just started clicking. try to jump start it, nothing doing, put in a new starter, same clicking, put the old starter back in replaced battery and battery cables but like a numbskull, I left the negative cable connected to the battery, and got a big spark when trying to connect the starter, Now I get no power to dash lights igniton headlights radio, anything, I've checked all the fuses i can find they appear to be good, could it be a relay switch or something else, Please help I checked the continuity to the starter and the fuse box and there is continuity. i dunno Help please thankyou

Re: No power to truck at all!!! Please help
Did you check the fuse box under the hood too? There's one in the dash and one under the hood eh.
The way you connected the battery shouldn't have done anything adverse to the truck. Maybe check that the negative cable for the battery is actually connected to the block at some point. Maybe something came loose or something. Check that fuse box under the hood. Check all wiring. |

Re: No power to truck at all!!! Please help
Thanks for the reply. I checked the box under the hood all the fuses seem good, but I do not know how to test the relays, I am going to take them to the autoparts store to get them tested. any other suggestions?

Re: No power to truck at all!!! Please help
I've done the same thing (didn't remove the pos. cable from the battery when removing/installing a starter) and accidentally caused my own Fourth of July but I never had those results (no power anywhere). Is there a fusible link between the battery and fuse/relay box under the hood. If there is, maybe it shorted out?

Re: No power to truck at all!!! Please help
check for 12V at the starter. (to ground)
check for 12V at the inside fuse box. (like the door lock switch fuse, not the hazard fuse. (hazard fuse just goes straight to the battery, but that should work?) Check ground from battery to body. ECM fuse. battery cable bad. I need more info such as: where you do or do not have 12V around the starter, ignition switch, fuse links etc.
