Re: how can i beat v8 i.e. American cars

depends on what american V8. a lincoln town car with a V8? sure. a corvette zo6?? probably not unless you're heavily modified. and exactly what jdm, spoon and mugen parts do you have in mind? just coz they're spoon, jdm and mugen doesn't mean anything special, they're just brand names. that's ALL they are.

very vague question that you're asking. try to be more specific. it'd also help to tell us what kind of prelude you have, year and model would help greatly. until then, this thread is pretty pointless. try again.

personaly i dont think it matters because all that matters in a race rest upon not whats between your frontbumper and gas pedal but more on what is sitting between the steering wheel and the drivers seat....and well by your comments you dont seem to be the racing type so if you raced against a person who knew what they were doing they could probably kick your ass in a geo metro if your inecperianced

monte carlo ss and grand am don't come with V8's. yo'ure still being pretty vague. what year mustang/cobra? recent ones i would say nay. the older V6's (like mid 90's stangs) possibly and that's the best i'll give to your automatic lude. i would even say the monte carlo ss and grand am gt will give the lude a run for its money if not beat it altogether. any 93 and up camero/firebird V8 in good form will own you.

sorry, but preludes aren't that fast. they're quick but most american V8 cars (even some trucks) will have no trouble with the prelude. but your prelude will leave a lot of these cars behind when it comes to any road without a straightaway longer than 1/4 of a mile.

i raced a newer gt recently and i won, but barely... and it was on the freeway. youll need alot of engine work to beat those cars, especially the cobra. im thinking you just threw those names out cause theyre "jdm"

im making decent power and i have nothing jdm. if you just want to beat a v8 get a nitrous setup.

Re: how can i beat v8 i.e. American cars

i say hondas are not for street racing in my opinion..im trying to get a nice lude right now myself because i drove my cousins friends 92 and omg it was a fun ride preludes arnt very fast expecialy if its non vtec either way i think alot of the kids with high modded civics and such are more trying to join the fad then actually spend money to get something nice...but thats just me I see Preludes as the daily driver thats looks can draw the eyes in your direction even around some of the most expensive rides around cause a good daily driver can be just as catchy as any leisure ride

Re: how can i beat v8 i.e. American cars

i have personally designed a highly specialized set up for your car to beat some of these ponies. The components below are very rare (not!) and with the right stickers, can be said to be jdm.

1) turbo
2) nitrous
3) 250 octane fuel (j/k )...a manual tranny!!!

with mugen and spoon in my opinion you might not always get the biggest gains in hp available for the specific part you want but you get durability that they are known for. besided spoon doesnt really make any parts that are for the prelude that increase hp.

any car can beat any car it just depends how much you wanna spend on it... do you wanna do basic mods like header/exhaust/intake or do you wanna spend a few g spots and put a super charger or turbo into it? What about an engine swap?? when it comes down to it the cobra would smoke a stock prelude, they are supercharged v8s with over 300 hp, its pretty obvious who would win.

Re: how can i beat v8 i.e. American cars

go with the supercharger or the turbo, get new cams, pulleys, header, exhaust, intake, bore your intake manifold and throttle body, new fuel rail, fuel pressure regulator, cam geears, clutch, lighter wheels, carbon fiber hood, umm... lots of stuff you can do if you have the $$$$

prelude vtec with turbo will kill mustang cobra
no problem ... go for stage 3 turbo or drag if you have the money. Piston high compression will be good mod ... Vtec top/H23 bottom built piston
can pull 250 Horse easy . not mention Turbo come with it .

anyone hear about ppl throwing k20's in the ludes? shaving about 100 pounds off the front end of your lude would be really nice
