Hmmmm, could possibly be the fuel pump. The 4.3 V-6 in your car requires a fairly high fuel pressure to start and run. As the fuel pump ages, it takes longer for it to build up enough pressure to start. One easy test to try that helped me out: Next time you go to start it up, turn the key to the run position but don't start the car. If you listen close you'll hear the electric fuel pump run (it's located in the fuel tank). It should run for about 3 seconds to prime itself then shut off, turn the key to off and Wait 10 or 15 seconds then do the same thing. Do this procedure about 3 or 4 times then try starting the car. If it starts right up, I would guess your pump is on it's last legs. The above procedure is simply a way of priming the fuel pump to build up pressure.
Reply back and let me know what you come up with, Mark

When my fuel pump started going out in my 96 s10 blazer it started fine but would die after a few miles untill it got worse and worse until it would not start any more, so it could be something else. The fuel pump cost 800 bucks to fix because they had to replace everything.

I am having the SAME problem with my '95 S-10 Blazer. After checking my fuel pump, relays and wiring, I'm thinking oil pressure switch or ignition module. There are other posts like this in the Chevy S-10 section of this site. Let us know what you find.

What motor do you have? Is it CPI or TBI injection? First thing to do is a new fuel filter. Then fuel pressure tests, TBI is usually 9-13 psi and CPI should be in the 50 psi range(not real sure on the pre-96 CPI but 96 and newer should be 60-66 psi 4.3L.
