1999 s-10 keyless install not originally equipped

I have a 1999 ZR2, not originally equipped with keyless entry. Have read lots of threads on late 90's S-10's, Blazer's, etc. for how to program keyless remotes. I purchased a keyless module on ebay and installed under the dash near parking brake. Also have a keyless remote. Both module and remote are supposed to be for 1998-2000 S-10. I cannot get anywhere with programming, i.e. when I try the unlock button down, key on/off on/off, nothing happens. Do I need to have my BCM reprogrammed, or is there something I can do myself?

If you get an answer, I wouldn't mind knowing since I have the exact same situation.

a) i would check your wiring and make sure that everything is hooked up correctly, a common problem for electrical things not working is you have a bad ground. if you have a test light or a dvom i would check and make sure that you have a proper ground and power. then double check and make sure that you have your output wires running to the correct places on the solenoid. remember that your modual has to have a always hot wire running to it. the wire can not be cool with the engine off. best way is to run a wire stright from your battery through your firewall and to the box.

b) make sure the battery is good in the remote

after that i am not so sure, you can try to find a place that reprograms those sort of things, but you would be better off just buying a new one with a remote with it already. it will save you alot of hassel in the end.

good luck
