What exactly is Considered a Rice Burner?

Im still pretty unclear as to what a "Rice Burner" really is, some people have told me its any old import, others say its a car that has alot of external work but nothing on the engine, and some seem to call em posers. So WHAT exactly is a Rice Burner.

Re: What exactly is Considered a Rice Burner?

everything you said except the old imports. People who take the time to restore old imports are the furthest thing from ricers. Seriously, have you ever seen an old 240Z, or 510 done up all ricey. I haven't yet...

Re: What exactly is Considered a Rice Burner?

It's subjective. There is no set standard of what "rice" is. What some enthusiasts feel is rice, others feel is not. I actually wrote a little column about this on my team's website. Check it out (and make sure you watch the video too, lol):

All show and no go is not rice IMO. If it's a dedicated show car, they have to have some insane shit done to their car to compete nowadays. It's the ricer mentality that makes a ricer. It just so happens that these ricers are the ones with the big ass wing and stickers and gaudy bodykits. Like Filipinoy85 or whatever his name is, is not a ricer IMO. One look at his car and you would say it is(sprayed on waves and black aluminum wing...)but he recognizes it as rice and said he is going to do something about it I believe. It's the mentality, not so much the vehicle itself.

Ok, so try for some uniqueness, mix shit up a bit, dont buy what everyone else buys.

Btw I have never been a big fan of HUGE wings, I like mine rather small or no wing at all. (Hey i rhymed!)

That's exactly what my column says about ricerness, so I agree with you totally. You guys really should go read it and watch the video, it's hilarious...lol
