replacing motor on 1996 Bonneville
I am replacing the motor in a 1996 Bonneville. The question I had was, how do you get to the bolt between the motor and the firewall that bolts to the transmission. Are there 6 bolts attaching the motor to the transmission? Should I try to pull the transmission and the motor together, or just the motor.
Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thanks for you time. |

Re: replacing motor on 1996 Bonneville
i pulled the motor in my 92 and experienced the same problem. I had to use an 18" extension with a wobbly on the end and a rachet with a pivoting head in order to get the bolt out. It was a headache and putting it back in is even more fun. If you have a magnet that fits your socket you can use that when installing to keep the bolt in the socket until you get it in and started. Don't tighten the other bolts down tight before you get this one started. It is definitly a fishing trip!!
