dual 40 series?? am i correct in assuming that you mea you put 2 flowmaster 40 series mufflers on your car? wouldn't two mufflers instead of just one restrict the air flow?

as for the loudest exhaust for an LT1... well many people love the SLP loudmouth and with a name like that you can understand why of course if you really wanted loud you could go with no cats and just a muffler, or even no exhaust at all, but thats too easy for the cops to spot and fine you for it.

Well, I have edelbrock rpm series tru-flow... I like it a lot, its loud when you're on the gas, and just rumbles at idle. I have a punched out cat, which makes it sound even better. I tried the whole, "no muffler" thing, and it was just plain annoying when you weren't rippin thru the gears. I don't like flowmaster too much, it sounds just like every other performance exhaust. I've never heard SLP, but i would love to hear some soundclips. Hope i've helped...

Re: exahust

For loud you can't beat the 40 series mufflers from Flowmaster. If you want to get even louder you can go for racing mufflers like the single chambered flowmaster, but they are not legal for street use. I personally like quiter, but better flowing, Aerochambers from Hooker Headers. They are quite tolerable at idle and you can talk to the guy next to you and not have to yell.

Cool 40 sereies

yes i have dual 40 series mufflers. i have one pipe
comming back from the caty, and it goes into a
y then i have the mufflers on each side. i did
have to customize the heat shields. these
mufflers came off my SS camaro, they were
two load, now i put borla on it they sound
good under acceleration but they arent as
loud. but with the 40 series you will
deffinatly get that loud soud your
looking for. let me know if you
decide to get that kind.

Re: exahust

Have you looked into glass packs?? They are very loud, very little restriction, and extremely cheap!

Re: exahust

if your lookin for flow, dont just hollow out the cats, cuz the engine wont run right. get a set of high flow random tecnology cats, i put one on my RS, you can look right through it, no mesh, so its the same deal, but it still cleans the exhaust so it wont piss off the O2 sensors. the catco one i put on the IROC is shit, dont buy them even if they are cheap. flows more than stock but still very restrictive and was a bitch to get to work with my AIR pipe.
