69 radiator options?

My father's 69 Firebird (350 2-speed automatic) overheats if it is not moving. He lives in the Bay Area so he is restricted to drive it late at night or early in the morning on weekends. I have heard the stock radiator does this; the car was not meant to be driven in rush hour in the summer. He replaced the radiator 4 years ago (with another stock one) and it was fine until last summer. Is there a reliable AM radiator out there that can keep the car from boiling over but you don't need to modify the engine compartment to get it to fit? How about an electric fan to go with it? Do they make such a thing? Anyone else have this problem? It sure is a nice car on the open stretch...but a piece when it strands you in some parking lot for 45 minutes.

I also have a 69 Firebird.. it runs super cool. has a 427 Chevy, 4 spd. I used a 160 degree thermostat, summit universal alum radiator and new stock clutch fan. never exceeds 165.. which is too cool. it needs a hotter thermostat, like 175 or 180. for you I think your thermostat is stuck. if not , I'd install a new cooler thermostat. replace clutch fan. don't run straight water. it'll overheat faster with straight water than 50?50 mix. hope this helps.
