Exclamation Engine/trans swap

I would like to know if it's possible to swap-out my '86 325 engine (118,xxx miles) and/or tranny INTO my '83 733i (242,xxx miles), and if so, what modifications, if any, need to be done? Both vehicles have 5-speed manual trannys.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Engine/trans swap

I'm just gonna say no. However, I'd check out some of those Sweedish tuners. They've squeezed S62B50s into E30 M3s, so if it can be done, they would have done it by now. Dunno why you would though.

Re: Engine/trans swap

I'm guessing he wants to swap because of the mileage on both engines... He wants the 100K+ instead of the 200K+ miles motor in his car...
Which by me, is... not too smart...

Re: Engine/trans swap

Either one is just delaying the inevitable if you are afraid of engine failure. If it were possible, for the money it would cost...I would just as soon get a "new" car.

Re: Engine/trans swap

Why don't you just buy a instrument cluster with less miles on it? check your vin# first to see the mileage reading recorded than find one with less miles on it?
Also i think your engine is the 3.2L that went into the 82-84 733i /533 and the 635 csi... you could probably get an older engine from the 78-81 733i ... i heard you gotta swap the timing covers....
