I had the same problem.

First I replaced the spark plugs and leads, did the wheel balancing, etc. but still the problem persisted.

Finally I discovered that it was "gearbox shudder".

You can have your repair agent do a shudder repair which is a temporary fix, or replace the gearbox (which is what I've just done).

Problem solved.

My 325e used to have the same problem you are describing. It gave all the symptoms of a cracked air hose, but after a while the alternator went bad. I replaced the alternator and haven't had the problem since then. It could be caused by any number of things, really- just start by checking the cheaper things before you move on to major part replacements.
