Re: stock toyota alarm wont turn off

Have you found a solution yet? I can't turn mine of either, but it gives me 30 seconds to get the key in the ignition before the horn goes.

I am pretty sure mine is OEM. I would like to just turn the thing off and not deal with it. When I have my oil changed and stuff I have to tell them to leave the key on accessory or the alarm will go off. The guy in the pit at the oil change place hates that.

Really? Most of the 4runners I know won't arm if you leave the key in the ignition. The keysence wire keeps it from doing that. Infact, the keysense wire is what I use to disarm the alarm without unlocking the car when installing a remote start. What year is yours?

according to my records, there was no alarm offered OEM on a '91 4runner. Sure it's oEM?

Re: stock toyota alarm wont turn off

it says toyota on the dashboard switch so i thought it was.I dont have the remote.I,ll take a pic of it if you want, but there is not much to see just a switch thats says toyota w/ two settings (valet mode and horn defeat)neither seem to make a difference;(

Re: stock toyota alarm wont turn off

Well, there was an alarm that was offered through the part department that was basically just plugged in. I think those are usually located under the driver's seat but not too sure. I have messed with a few but not enough to be well versed.

Most valet buttons can only be used at certain times. Think of it, if you could simply press it at any time to disarm, it would be worthless. Most, you have to press them either while the ignition is on or just after you shut the car off.

Try those and let me know.
