Stripped a lug bolt..

Anybody know how to install a new one? I've heard they can be tapped in from behind or something, but I haven't really looked yet.

Yep drive it out with a hammer and drive in the new one from the back with a hammer.

Front brakes or back. I had a stripped on up front, every said to do exactley that, but it turned out to be a pain in the ass. It is easy to drive it out, just hit it from the front. They will not go straight in/out, they are on a angle. I had a tought time getting the new one in without f-ing up the threads on the stud. I had to actually grind a bit off the brake assembley and stud to get it to slide in without damage.

fuck it.. I made an appt with the shop for monday morning. I'd rather pay $50 for shit like that.

dude, i dont knwo about hondas, but if you have non-captive brakes its easy. save the 50 dollars.

go to the dealer, get a stud and lug for about 5 bucks tops.take the wheel off, and caliper(oh shit, do you guys have drums? still wouldnt be to bad). hammer the stud backwards, insert new stud through the back of the hole. screw the old lug on there, and use it to pull the stud into place. its ok if you screw a hole right through the lug, having the stud securely on there is more important, and thats what the new lug is for. if you could find a regular nut that fits on the stud, then your even better off.

Dude.... I just changed 5 lugs in a truck for a guy on the side of the expressway in cleveland... durring rush hour... its not hard... 2-3 good his with a hammer and they WILl pop out ( hit it from the threaded side ) then slide you new ones in from the back... put a nut on ( lug nut preferably.. Not the acorn type... just a regular one) and tighten it up BY HAND...once its set... carefully put your wheel on.. then tighten it with an impact if you have one...

Have either of you ever done one on a HONDA. Not all cars are the same you know. For example, I can remove the drive axle from my truck in about 3 min, but you spend about an hour removing the drive axles from a honda. I did the studs on my old mans toyota just like that, but there was a notch that the factory took out of the brake assembley just for that reason. I know that 5th gen hondas for sure do not. If you don't know from EXPERIENCE, then I don't see how you can give advice. I just replaced the honda's again recently with ARP wheel studs and I said fuck it, I will let a mechanic do it and he had to pull the hubs just to prevent fucking up the new studs.

Hey I just broke one some how the thing fucking welded its self to the lug nut and I could not get it off and then it just broke right off...can I replace it or do I have to get a whole new hub?

Cost me $46.. up to you whethet it's worth the work or not.
