Please reply about repair attempts

Somehow this forum seems to have turned into "Ask libertylover" which I guess is OK but I'm not that much of an expert. I'm just a guy with 1993 BMW 740iL who bought documentation, has a curiosity about how things work, and likes to help others.

Part of reason may be that I get up early, put on a pot of coffee and head for the computer. I just can't sleep late these days (but I can take a helluva nap later in the day!).

Anyway, if you receive advice from me or anyone else about how to repair something, please return to the forum and post some results. Even if the advice doesn't work it's helpful information for everyone to know that it didn't work. When the real problem is found, either on you own or if you sought professional help, please return and post that as well. Remember, everyone reading this forum is doing so for the same reason-to learn.
