i would suggest going to autozone (or a place similar) they have a meter that will tell you what's wrong... there is something wrong somewhere for the engine light to be on... Is the car doing anything out of the ordinary? rough idle? anything?

Disconnect the battery, Leave it disconnected for about 5 minute's, Reconnect battery. The light should be off, If not take it to autozone as the guy above me suggested.

umm its more then 5 min, disconect eh (-) cable, hold in the break to make the lights shine to drain the power still in the system for a min or 2. Then plug it back in, to reset teh PCM drive it around town fore 15 min, let it idle fro 3-5min(till rpms drop and idle smooths a lil, then drive at high speed fro abut 15 min, w/ random take offs(ie. slamming the gas from 20-75ish a few times so the pcm learns how to run right) then drive eorund town again tehn go home.
