<< sigh >>

Last march I bought a big-ol-honkin' redneck-looking Jeep Wrangler complete with offroad package and 3" lift kit. Because I have a job that requires me to be here regardless of weather conditions, one of the primary reasons I bought the Jeep was to insure I would be able to get to work in the snow.

When I woke up this morning, the radio was going over various school closings. I looked out the window and saw a whopping 1.5" or more of snow!! I was excited so I got ready to leave and grabbed the Jeep keys. I got in and turned the key... nothing happened. EVERYTHING was dead. I frantically went through all of the electronics... and found that I had left the lights on the last time I drove it.

Soooooo... After slipping and sliding out of my subdivision, I very carefully drove my FWD 3000GT to work. Everyone who knows I have a Jeep has asked me all day why I didn't drive it. Arrrgghhhh...

Thanks for listening... I just needed to vent.

Gees, Bone... where are you in FL? I used to live in Daytona Beach when I went to college there. I missed the constantly changing mountain scenery (especially in the fall). I heard it got down to almost freezing in Orlando, too!

Ah Aerosly, I can relate to your problem. I bought myself a Suzuki Jimny last April, and left the lights on all night a few weeks ago. Why??? Cos, there was no warning light to remind me to turn them off. So, I got one fitted (Big thanks to JoshB from Moto...er....another forum), and I haven't left them on since. I'd advise you to get one fitted too....GREAT investment!!

Sorry to hear of your problem. Look at the bright side. You could have left your lights on away from home, and been stranded in a lousy area at the mercy of some fool from Triple A as I was a while back in Newark, NJ.

Talk about a rotten experience. I didn't know jack about cars back then, so I didn't recognize that the guy from AAA hooked up the negative and positive terminals on my battery backwards. Believe it or not, this guy actually fried my entire electric system, and even though extensive work was done on it to restore it, it still gives me trouble to this day. Fortunately, my Acura has this little sonic alarm to remind me if I leave my lights on, so this is no longer an issue

But, no matter how you slice it, knowing that your car is dead because of your screw up is never entertaining. One just hopes that it is not costly enough so that you can't look back on the experience with a sigh and a wink.

Thanks for all the input... It felt SO good to vent. On my 3000GT, if I have the lights on and the car off then open the door, the lights automatically go out. I haven't manually turned the lights out on that thing in over a year.

It snowed again this morning and all was well... after priming the carbeurator a few times the Jeep started right up and I was happily on my way (in 4wd) out of the driveway. Ahhhh.

Oh man, what a pain! I just bought an SUV for my wife and have been waiting for snow since the beginning of the season.. I don't think we're ever going to get any.. With my luck however, I'd probably get it stuck in very little snow..

Why didn't you take the battery out of your 3000 and put it in the Jeep?

Talking 1.5" of snow????

Look I can understand your frustration, but take it from us folks up here in Canada, 1.5" of snow is merely a dusting.

Heck where I grew up they didn't close the schools unless the snow was so deep the plows couldn't get out the town shed.

Hope you have many more opportunities to 4X4 in the Wrangler.

The Snow-weary Carguy.

ya, welcome to the club, right now it is snowing here. I live in Ottawa and like Carguy saws, they don't close the schools unless there is 25+ cm of snow.
