Max Boost(psi)

just a question out of curiousity, whats the max boost and hp for the sr20det? like many websites say that 12-14 on stock internals... what if i got aftermarket forged internals and engine treated like polished and full prep work for the engine? and resleeving and reinforcements for the engine? how much horsepower can i make before the the power to wheels is in-efficient? and what has anyone heard about any super sr20's? just a curious question thats all... and another question... are their other options to the 240 trannies? or will only stock work with the high HP ratings? thanks

Re: Max Boost(psi)

The SR has been been seen to take 450 HP on stock internals. Although I wouldn't recommend doing that, it has been done. If you get an S13 sr then then highest I would boost on the stock turbo is around 16 psi or so. That's when the efficiency starts to fall off with the sr's air flow. HKS makes a sequential dog box for the SR, but be prepared to shell out about 10 grand for it...

On a side note for the KA, OS Giken now makes a gear set for the KA tranny. Anybody heard anything else about this?

WTF do u care about an sr20 then? Stick to ur FWD, N/A heavy car!!!

Plus I sick of newbies asking dumb Q! duh!! what do you think , please!!! if u bore the engine and do internal work on it it will hold more boost. its all online, look in the teck pages. there are allot of info in it!

Re: Max Boost(psi)

450 hp???? Yeah with $50,000 worth of upgrades?
Dude the engine is 10 years old! seals are definitely a problem, turbine is not good after 14 psi (7 stock, 10 max with stock intercooler)
injectors are to small....etc.

the REAL ans is 260 (stock internal, actuator, piping injectors $500 total)

320 reliable hp with upgraded turbo bigger intercooler.

i assume that the piping been don to the car (intake ,down pipe, and cat back )

all i'm asking is , if anyone has seen or heard of showcars with maybe the 500-700 HP rating? of course if you do engine work you would get higher HP...... im sorry if i didn add in the part.... if you upgraded your turbo and good internals. so again, whats the max HP rating for the block itself... and the reliable hp rating to the car? just a curious question..i mite be a noob but it doesn't mean ur king of motors... and no i do not own a sr..i'm saving up for a s14 black top.

Re: Max Boost(psi)

save $ that’s the name of the game! Once u have $50,000 then ask the q again, ok!

wtf 700 hp?? Dude, get a supra and call it one!

ps: sr are made of aluminum block unlike the KA which is made of steel. Turbo the KA and u might get that hp rating!

Yes we've all heard of 500-700 Hp showcars

Kind of like having a submarine capable of flight

Like the Pulsar guy said, ask again when you have min $10-20K to blow, then call me, I'd love to help you make it happen. Untill then, it's just another waste of time.
