Hi everyone! 'Thinking about a future Cooper S purchase.. How are they?
I haven't driven one yet, but they must be a blast. I currently drive a 2003 MazdaSpeed that is boosted to around 190HP.
One thing I am really curious about is the (Chrysler?) engine; and how the overall upkeep has been on the Cooper S. This car really does have my attention. Thanks! - Greg |

Cooper S is savage. Got one last week. Standard bhp 163 can be boosted to 260 i think. Tends to slide a little in the wet. Engine is BMW as far as I know looks awesome when modified check out www.zeemax.com for a few pics of what you could do... with the money of course.

Re: Hi everyone! 'Thinking about a future Cooper S purchase.. How are they?
I have had my car for 2 years. I simply love it. Dealership has been great with fixing any issues I have had. Only complaints:
1) Hate the run flat tires. Expensive and too rough of a ride. 2) Dashboard rattle...which the dealership has resolved for me under warantee. 3) Lacks a bit of power in lower RPM ranges. I am being a little "anal" here in my posting, but this car brings car nuts...and I am simply one....therefore...I am super critical. No major mechanical issues AT ALL. 25k and going strong. Going to add a stage 2 kit here soon. New pully wheel, intake, ECU chip and exhaust. Check out http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html/project_mini.shtml for the kit I am getting. 200 hp would be sweet....not that 163 is poor....I just am I speed freak. Great buy and what a car for the price! Last edited by mcnamaraz; 01-11-2005 at 03:17 PM. |
