? about T5 tranny

Ok i'm looking at a transmission i want to buy, it's a T5 tranny. I have one concern and can't seem to find an answer anywhere. I pulled my t5 out and on the case it says "Basic 3". My car is a 1990 GT, the one i want to buy says "R3" can someone tell me if that means it's a different design or what it means? Also the owner says it came out of a '87 and it was also used in a '93. I don't want to get screwed out of a tranny i can't use so if anyone knows what these codes mean please enlighten me.

thanks, brandon

Re: ? about T5 tranny

All T-5's should bolt right up. There are lots of variations in these things. Primarily, World Class (WC) and non-WC. I'd suspect one coming out of an '87 is not WC. But, it's just a matter of the torque rating. Any T-5, beat hard enought and shifted hard enough, will break. Sooner or later.

Just check the connections - neutral switch, etc., to see if they match up.

LOL
