Header install problems!! HELP!!!

OK I got my header in and i'm really excited.. now i'm pissed because I can't get them in. The stock downpipe where it connects at the very end has 3 rusted bolts that are a PAIN in the ass to get out. AND the header I bought only came with 1 gasket and 3 bolts for where the downpipe connects to the actual header piece. HOW do I get these bolts out?? I tried a cheater bar and broke my wrench. I sprayed the bolts w/ penetrating oil temporarily. Thanks guys -matt-

You will have to cut them or torch them off. If you have air impact them off.

Re: Header install problems!! HELP!!!

i feel your pain...and i had my car up on ramps for 4 days installing my headers. my advice...take it to a muffler shop who will it install it in no more than an hour (if that much!), and probably won't charge you more than $50.

when i installed my headers, i spent a lot of money on tools...

$40 for a socket wrench set
$10 for a 1/2" drive 10" extension
$40 for a torque wrench
$5 on 2 bottles of penetrating oil
$40 on a set of Craftsman worn bolt taps
$10 on a drill and tap set
$50 on rhino ramps and extensions

$30 to have a muffler shop remove horribly worn bolts to seperate the cat from the downpipe

$35 to have them shorten my stock exhaust 3" (the new downpipe was too long)

in the end...it would have been better for me to dish out $50 to have them install it. take my advice...its 50000% easier (and cheaper)

Re: Header install problems!! HELP!!!

Yeah i'm gonna have to take it to a muff man. After I twisted a bolt off with an air impact wrench that was enough to tell me to call it quits. While I have the muff man install the header, i'm gonna go ahead and have him remove my catalytic converter and weld on a fart can.
