Angry 84 Regal lights don't work

I have a 1984 Regal that rear lights do not work but brake lights work, hazard lights work, directionals work but no rear running lights or plate light. Changed all bulbs and several fuses and still no luck. I am hoping that someone out here in internet land will have some suggestions as to what might be causing this and/or what to do (other than light a rag and stick it in the gas tank...LOL!!!) Thank you in advance. Lisa

Re: 84 Regal lights don't work

It may be a couple of things: 1) It can be your parking light switch is somehow deffective or disconnected, or 2) It can be the wiring to your parking lights is somehow shorting.

My 95 Regal has different switches for all of the other functions in a collar inside the steering column (brakes, directionals, hazards, reverse). But the parking light switch is connected to both the parking lights and the license plate light.

Check to see if all of the parking lights are working when you put them on (front and back). You can open the trunk and see if the wires leading from the lights have been damaged, but anything more involved than that you might want to go to an auto electrician/alarm/radio expert to check the switch and wiring thoroughly.
