Salt spots

after this past winter, i've got white speckles (presumably from road salt) all over the front of my car, on my dad's too. Compound, wash and wax haven't gotten rid of em... just made em a little less noticeable. There any tricks to get rid of it?

Re: Salt spots

Two things, 1)clay bar,
and 2) kerosene on a rag (make sure you wash it off afterwards, and be careful not to take off any paint. don't rub in one spot too long)
but if they are chips in the paint, then they wont be coming out.

Re: Salt spots

Fine chips that look like white compound spatter, our chev/gm products have paint that seems to sandblast quite easily when following big trucks or other cars on salted/sanded roads in winter or dirt roads any time. Clean with some body solvent and apply fine specs of touch up paint let it cure for a few days then use a auto paint conditioner and over and over apply it till the touch up paint fuses together smooth. Machine it if possable so heat makes it smoother and glossy to match oem paint better.
