Running a richer fuel mixture
A was just thinking about how to extract N/A power through bolt-ons today, and i was wondering if a Apex-i Safc, JET chip, or Hondata (i can't get a Vafc because i have an H23A) and an upgraded ignition would alone allow me to run a richer mixture. I already have a CAI and Exhaust to help airflow. And while we are on ignitions, i was curious as to what advantages advancing the ignition timing has (if any), just enough so it doesn't ping. Thanks for your help, i know that i like asking questions.

Re: Running a richer fuel mixture
generally, from what i have heard, those chips will increase your power output to a certain point depending on the mods you have. purposely running a richer fuel mixture on a relatively unmodified engine is pointless and probably dangerous since honda engines usually run a lil rich stock to protect them at the higher rpm's.

Re: Running a richer fuel mixture
Your stock ignition system does not have to be upgraded, nor will you get anything out of upgrading it. You want to upgrade your fuel management system if you are to buy an SAFCII(stay away from chips...). The p14 ecu found in Prelude Si's are not Hondata compatible. You'd have to use a p28 or p72 ecu, and that requires alot of expertise in tuning.
