how often should i change the differental fluid in my 2000 dodge Dakota?

I am pretty sure it is 35,000 miles I will check and make sure and make sure and I will get back with you. By the way do you know which rearend you have?

no I dont know all i know is it is the Dakota Sport. cant remember to much it is actually my dads truck, he is thinking of giving it to me and he thinks it needs to be done! 46,654 miles on the truck.

Keep in mind that about 80% of the vehicles on the road today never see a fluid change for rearend. Not saying that is the right thing to do but dont get in too much of a rush to do it. If you cahnge your fluid you are going to need to know if your have the positive track or limited slip and that will determine what oil you put in it. You need 75W90 but I think if you have the limited slip you need a senthetic additive to go with it. 2 quarts should fill you up.
