welcome to the forums brother.

not sure about the hp but you'll get heaps of replies in no time. as for engine swaps..... well anything is possible with enough $$$$$. You could always get an LS1 put in of course then you'd have to change a lot of things and the expenses would keep piling on. I wouldn't suggest an engine swap unless you really think the car is worth the cash you're gonna spend doing the swap. If you plan to keep the car for at least 5 or so years then the engine swap is worh the hassle, if not then I'd just stay with the stock engine if I were in your shoes.

Re: want to know specs and what i can do

should be the TBI 305, which made 190hp in your application i think, its either 170 or 190hp. as far as swaps, any small block chevy from 1953-1999 will bolt right in. You can get the kit to put a LT1 in it, and year one has the parts to put the LS1 in it. ive seen big block convertions and the like. personaly i would just put a hot standard small block in there, preferably a single rear seal version to lessen the oil leak back there. um.... thats pretty much all i know off the top of me head.

do you have the 4spd auto with overdrive with the 2.73 rear end, or the manueal with 3.08 rear end, if i were you i would spend 200 bucks and get like a 3.73 rear end, just with that will improve accel a hell of a lot...

just my opinion...

Re: want to know specs and what i can do

well, its a standard small block chevy, so any small block chevy, baring an SB2, LT1, LT4, LT5, LS1, or LS6, will bolt right in. so just go hit up SDPC2000.com, or any authorized GM performance parts dealer and page through the available crate engines, that or any other aftermarket offering for small block crate engines. as far as what to do to yours, depends alot on how crazy you want to go. i mean, how much power to lookin to pump out of this thing. realisticly that is. and how much you looking to spend, also realisticly.

Re: want to know specs and what i can do

an LS6 would eat up your t-5 tranny like fruit loops... They wouldnt even handle the L98's at 245hp max.. You'd need a T-56 tranny, or a 4L60e or 4L80e

Re: want to know specs and what i can do

If your just lookin to up the hp without spending a hole lotta money, consider swapping your 305 tbi out (190hp) for an L98 350 TPI.. theyve got 245 hp, and its a good foundation to build on..
