Thumbs up Camaro vs. Prelude

Will a 1994 3.4L Camaro 5-speed with no mods beat a 1992 Honda Prelude Si? Both auto or stick ( no mods) I am told that the Prelude had the advantage. Lets just asume that both drivers are equal.

Re: Camaro vs. Prelude

Im gonna put my money on the Prelude..

a/t? m/t?

They both have relativly the same horsepower (maro should have a little more torque) but the Camaro is quite a bit heavier

Re: Camaro vs. Prelude

Does the prelude have the h22? h22's are rated at 200hp.

i put my money on the camaro, my old 92 rs 305 tbi w/ 140,000+mi auto wooped up on more than one prelude, including the brand new ones. and i have been told by many people that the 4th gen v6's sometimes outperform the 3rd gen v8's. besides, even if the prelude wins; racing a honda is like racing in the special olympics, when or lose, ur still retarded .

p.s. nobody flame me for that... its just a wise crack i heard today and wanted to say it

Re: Camaro vs. Prelude

Don't forget, this isn't even the 3800, this is the 3.4, 160hp heavy camaro against a 200hp lighter prelude, 3800 would probably win, more torque, but not the 3.4!!

Re: Camaro vs. Prelude

the 92 preludes did not have 200 hp, it only had like 150 at the most probably but the power to weight ratio is sooo much better than the maro...

Re: Camaro vs. Prelude

No, both the prelude engine and the Maro engine should be about 160hp, But the Prelude's got about 155 ftlbs, and the camaro a 200 ft lb torque rating

The Camaro is about 400 pounds heavier, maybe a little more.. The marow *might take it off the line, but the prelude will no doubt come out ahead

Re: Camaro vs. Prelude

prelude, weighs a lot less. Also don't downplay VTEC, it does help. (assuming it's the DOHC VTEC type)

Re: Camaro vs. Prelude

VTEC is crap, doesnt do anything. all the honda techs and drivers just want you to think that it makes a huge difference...

LOL VTEC is crap huh. You will say that when one these days a lil civic or something like that comes and blows ur ass away. I know the LS1 can beat a new prelude but put the prelude up against the so great 3800 series v6 the prelude would rape the shit out of it. Hondas arent ment for out of the factory performance that's why they have so much after market parts. So a real car enthusiast can tune and make combination to see how fast you can get that 4 cylinder to go.
