I am not sure what the deal is now with my Tib, but I get a strange knocking/vibrating noise after I start the car and hold in the clutch. When I let OFF of the clutch, it goes away. When I hold the clutch in....the noise comes back. I can feel the pusalting vibrations on the clutch pedal, and when I listen to the sound of the car running, I can hear some noise being made. The ONLYthing that I did to the car (after filling up the tank full of gas) is added some Fuel Intake cleaner/Carburator cleaner. The directions stated "add to fuel tank when tank is on a full tank of gas."
This problem only occurs when I am in first gear. I can get going, and it goes away, but once I start the car up or come back to a slow down and I'm in first gear, the problem comes back. Maybe I should not have used those cleaners. I just thought it would never harm the car. I'm hoping that the cleaners aren't being well liked by the car. I guess I won't be able to tell if this is a transmission problem until I get a new tank of gas. Until then...this problem that I am having will have to last until a new tank of gas. Damn standards....the gas will last me at LEAST a week and a half. I don't want to do anymore damage if it is not those cleaners.I've only had my used vehicle for 1 1/2 months and they only had a 1 month warranty on it. I bought it in Feb. so my warranty is up. Any suggestions on what it could be? |

Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas on what this could be? I just now noticed that when I am over 30 MPH, and when I shift from 2nd to 3rd. I get a grinding my gears thing going on. It isn't so "nasty" sounding, it's just when I shift...the grind is so quick and sudden. If I am below 30 MPH and I shift from 2nd to 3rd, the grind noise isn't there. Am I going too fast in 2nd to be shifting making the gear grind? *not sure* Because this is my first manual tranny.

It sounds like the release bearing on your clutch is Ka-put, and/or your preassure plate is failing.
How many miles are on the car? It's probbly time to replace the clutch disk, preassure plate, release bearing, and have your fly wheel surfaced. |

BC the car has 56,000 miles on it. It is a 2000 Tib. I bought it back in Feb. of '04 and this is the first sign of problems. The vehicle has never been wrecked or anything, so I'm assuming it's just time to replace some factory parts perhaps.
