Exclamation New Olds fan looking for help...

I have always been into vintage and muscle cars over newer cars, but just recently starting learning about the Oldsmobiles. Just want to know if anyone can explain the difference that makes one a w-30.

Re: New Olds fan looking for help...

W-30 was the option code for an upgraded handling package, with stiffer springs, shock damping, suspension bushings, a rear sway bar and larger front bar.
This option was first offered in the late '60's on the Cutlass.
After a few years, in the '70's, the marketing folks thought it would sound cool (like Chevy's Z-28) to make it a complete sporty package, complete with the handling package, bucket seats, gauge package and big W-30 stickers on the outside.
