My Metro's Check engine light came on while driving down the highway and it died. before that it ran great. 1.0 liter automatic 34mpg
I checked to see if it was getting fire by putting a spark plug on the coil lead and cranking it but with no results. the positive and negative terminal on the coil both have power with the key on. I traded coils from my truck to the Geo and the Truck started with its original coil and with the geo's coil but the geo would not start with either coil. Does anyone have an Idea why i have no fire? |

Re: 94 Metro died and wont start
I just had that happen to my 94 and it was the timing belt. just make sure you sero out your valve timing and your crank timing after you put the new timing belt on cause they are prolly out of sink.

Re: 94 Metro died and wont start
oh one more thing, the belts that they sell at Autozone, o'reilly's ect are not the right belts, at least not in Kansas. You might have to check the dealer

You were right the timing belt is broke and the cover is cracked by the crank and about midway.

What noise did it make when you tried to start it?

Re: 94 Metro died and wont start
The timing cover is a dealer part, I would advise going to a salvage yard to getone. The blet is another story. like I said before, the ones at the auto parts stores, at least here, sell the wrong ones. I was fortunate enough to find a wrecked one that had just had one put on. they are very easy to change so dont get raped by a mech shop. Good luck.
