New to civic
I am new to the honda civic sport, so I just have a few questions. Right now my civic is stock, except for a cold intake, now I am looking to make just a few modification to my car, nothing to crazy cause I am on a budget. Before I even do anything,
1. I need to know how can i identify my engine my car doesnt have power steering or A/C I dont know if that helps. 2. But for starters I need to give my car a good tune up for the summer what do you guys suggest as for spark plug, wires, caps, etc and specific brands? 3. I would also like to get some headers/exhaust system, which ones work best with my engine? 4. And what is the purpose of the main relay? If this relay goes bad, will this effect my car from starting or stalling? Bxcivic2000 |

1990 civic according to your profile...ok
You say you have no power steering/ac? More than likely its a Standard trim, so you more than likely have the 70hp d15....err...something....You can find out by looking at the left side of the FRONT of the block (at least thats where it was on my dads lude) There will be a little flat spot with the engine code. ok the rest are up to someone else...

2. as for spark plugs - ngk. wires and cap do not really matter, i would say just oem. 3. depending on you engine, i would wait on header or exhaust. check what engine you have. 4. the main relay makes sure your fuel system works. if it doesnt start or have starting problems the main relay might be the cause. im not exactly sure on this.

I have a 91 civic dx and it doesn't have power steering. It is therefore still possible that his car is a dx. A good way to figure all this out would be to look at the exterior of the car. I am not positive but I think that the std civic came with no center reflector or rather it was black instead of the red ones that the DX and SI came with. The standard also lacks the rear wiper.
See if this info helps. |

Thanks you guys from responding to my post, so this makes my civic engine a 1.5L right?

BAhh i just saw that dx ps thing in a old thread
Yeah either way you got a 1.5l...although the trim most definately matters becuase the std has 70 hp while the dx has 90. The easiest way to tell is the tranny-5 speed or auto=dx, 4 speed=standard

Re: New to civic
yeah i was gonna say my dx didnt used to have power steering, but it did come with a/c. boy i tell you what though the power steering job was a pain. damn rusted control arms. lol. but yeah ngk plugs are what i use. and just factory style wires and cap will do you just fine.
