install A/C... any tips or suggestions?

Ok, the air conditioner compressor went out on my 96 bonneville. The pulley was making a really loud winding sound. So we got the A/C compressor out of the car now. We are going to be picking up a new one today and be installing it tonight. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of things that soomeone that has never done an air conditioner should know. I know they have to have oil. Do you have to add it before you put it in? I know some freon comes with oil. But if there is any suggestions on what to do when installing a brand new one, that would be great. I have never done air conditioning so anything would be great. Getting it out of the car wasn't that big of a deal. It took me about an hour. If it goes back in as easy as it came out, that will be wonderful. (Please don't respond with "take it to someone that knows what they are doing." That isn't an option. But I almost always get that response when I post any questions.)
