Hi all. I have a R34 GTR which i built a few years back but im not very happy with the paint job. (i didnt spray the body. tried to paint it by hand) If i leave it to soak in brake fluid will it damage the clear parts that have already been fitted? (eg windscreen ect)

Previous threads about the subject have warned to be careful with the clear parts.
You could always remove the clear parts before stripping the paint.

Forget the brake fluid.

Why do people still think this is a good way of stripping paint from plastic? Yes, it will remove paint- but it's not plastic safe. You may get lucky, or you may get a nasty surprise. Why risk it?

Use automotive degreaser (Castrol Super Clean, Purple Power, Simple Green), or 99% isopropyl alcohol. Safe, cheap (especially the alcohol), effective, and likely won't take years off your life.

Your choice.

No, should leave them pristine. If there's any residual haze from the paint, it can be easily polished off.

acrylic paint. with tamiya clear gloss sprayed over the top.

Easy. Tamiya acrylics can be quickly and safely stripped with any number of things. Window cleaner, automotive cleaner/degreaser, and alcohol will all work very well. Go to a grocery store, get a bottle of 99% or 91% isopropyl alcohol, and it'll take it right off. Leave it in a covered container over night (I like the cheap reusable/recyclable leftover containers, also at the grocery), and the plastic will be as clean as when you started the kit.

cool. i will give it a go. it will strip off the clear that was sprayed over the top of the paint as well?

Yes, it'll take the clear off too. If it's laquer clear, it may protect the paint undernieth it for a little while, but the alcohol will take it off. If the clear is acrylic, it will all come off pretty quickly. Isopropyl will even strip Tamiya primer.
