What is the best motor for my hatchback?

I'm going to buy a hatchback and my friends are telling me gsr motor and turbo. Don't really have a clue? Is there anything faster?

k20a or h22a would be faster, but would cost a lot more.

a b16a/b or b18c1/5 should do you well.

i'm a month away now from the B18C5 route....deposit made already.....perfect for what i want....a damn fast daily driver.....but wouldn't this guy get much more HP if he went the GSR route with turbo or super charger??......all motor is sweet though.....mc

i would suggest a scooter engine. it's a direct bolt in and you don't even have to worry about any wiring harness, you don't even need an ecu. it's just plug in and play.

IMO, never put an h22 in a civic or integra. Not worth it. Gotta get custom mounts and it will make ur car too front heavy. H22 is supposedly 300 lbs heavier than a b series. That added extra weight in the front makes it very dangerous for high speed. Get too much oversteer and may cause ur car to oversteer too much on a small turn and lose control and even crash. Its only good u are doing the 1/4m since u are just going straight. Stick with the b series for civics/integras. H series are only for preludes, accords and CLs.

For ur civic HB i'd go w/ a GSR (b18c1) or CTR (b16) motor. IMO, the ITR (b18c5) isnt worth it. its really expensive for its characteristics. But if u got a lot of money then go with the ITR.

I think that's what I want to do (H22A swap into my 98 Civic) It would be bitching fast and I dont plan on auto crossing or anything so...just a daily driver and my races will be straight. Although how is the h22 for turbo? I would like to turbo it eventually. I'm just trying to decide between H22A and B18C1. Can anyone compare the two?

the h22 basically has 0.4 more liters of displacement, a lot more torque. they have the same compression ratio of 10.6. the h22 has 200 horses, and 161 lb ft of torque. the b18c has 180 horses and 126 lb ft of torque. these engines that i am referring to are the jdm ones. hope that helped.

B18C1 (GSR) swap will be the best for cost, speed, and all around handling. If you turbo one of these motors and tune it correctly, you will have one badass car.

if you're going to go turbo, and don't want to do any internal work, go with the b18c1, it has been said that the h22 has weak internals.. besides, the b18c1 swap will be easier to do. if you are willing to drop the cash for internals, and you plan on drag, you might want to look into the h22.. if i were you i would stick with the b18c1

If you're going turbo, go GSR. If you're going all out, built motor turbo, go GSR. If you're going N/A, go GSR. If you're going all out built motor N/A, go GSR.

The GSR is way cheaper than the ITR motor, which means more money in aftermarket parts to make it faster than the ITR when N/A, and it's better suited to turbo. The only thing the ITR has on the GSR is better gearing.
