A/C Problem (Grand Voyager 96)
White Smoke was coming out of my a/c vents, then air was warm. I put some freon and it improved but did not last long. Also I noticed that when I turn on the a/c, the fans do not come on. Is this Normal?
I don't have a clue of what could be wrong. Any help will be deeply appreciated. Thanks

Ac
You have a leaking evaporator core for the A/C in the Dash. The fans are controlled by a pressure transducer and will come on as the engine computer sees fit to do so determined by ac high pressure engine load/temp etc.

Thanks for the info RG. Do you think the fans not coming on is because of the evaporator or the transducer?
Also, I guess I have to remove he dash in order to reach the evaporator. Right? Thank you for the reply. RR

Yes the dash has to come out to remove the evaporator. It is a big job.You could check the transducer connector for rust (located on the smaller diameter A/C line). If the pressure in the A/C is not high enough (ie: empty from leak) then the fans won't come on. To test the fans you could unplug the engine coolant temp sensor and the fans should come on.
