Re: Vented Hoods

I dont have one, but i dont think they will cause a problem. They're stock on Subaru WRX's, so i guess they're kosher. If you get one I'd get it professionally installed. I saw a guy with one that he screwed on himself. He had two. Only one was functional, the other was just for looks. He must have used a can opener to cut the hole for the functional one, cuz it looked jagged and ugly as hell from under the hood. I guess thats why he didn't cut a hole for the other one. Definitely not a DIY if you're poor/cheap without the right tools.

Re: Vented Hoods

Professional Install is a must in my eyes...Insurance reasons. But I'll prep/paint it myself. If it helps I'm looking at a Series 1 Predator Hood (NOT C/F...just a normal fiberglass one)

Re: Vented Hoods

Professional installation doesnt really help you with anything. If you're going to have insurance on your aftermarket parts, I still dont think it needs to be proffesionally installed... not sure on that. All hoods to my knowlegde are not designed with a water duct like WRX's. Water will flow right on to your motor. IMO, as long as water stays away from your intake, your fine. I've heard stories of water some how getting into the spark plugs from a drive through car wash. Also, if you have a pollished chrome motor, or any pollished chrome parts in your motor... they will get rusted and coroded.
